Our lipstick, Aristides, is the name after the horse that won the first Kentucky Derby in 1875. The horse was rode by Oliver Lewis, a former enslaved Black man, trained by Ansel Williamson, who was also a former enslaved black man at the time, and owned by Hal Price McGrath.
As we get ready to celebrate the 150th Kentucky Derby this year, may our lips salute the winners of the first Kentucky Derby!
